Dance Du Coeur teachers bring diverse background and training to Teen Classes!
Dance Du Coeur offers several teen classes for students 11.5 years and up to help them prepare for or excel in school dance or drill teams. These classes include teen ballet, teen contemporary, teen hip hop hop, teen jazz, drill team prep and leaps and turns. We have highlighted three classes from the schedule to showcase the wide variety of backgrounds and training our teachers possess. Each of them bring something unique to their classes, from technique refinement to constructive feedback from a judge’s perspective , to energy/ performance quality.

Leaps and Turns with Madeleine Meyer, Mondays 8-9 p.m.
Originally from Austin, Texas Madeleine Meyer graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College with a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Arts Management . Madeleine’s Leaps and Turns class starts with a full body warm and includes some center and across the floor exercises. She will teach students how to maximize the height of their leaps, accomplish fuller splits, maintain control in turns and how to flow through their movements by staying grounded and engaging their core.

Teen Jazz with Jesus Acosta, Wednesdays 8-9 p.m.
Jesus is a nationally recognized authority on jazz technique and knows what judges are looking for in a routine! He has 15 years experience in judging and teaching for MA Dance & Auxiliaries, the leading high school dance competition and camp program in the U.S. He also serves as an adjudicator for the nation’s most competitive state programs, including the Iowa State Championships and Utah State Drill Team Competitions. He dances professionally in Houston and teaches/ choreographs for dancers at all levels, from the Houston Texans Cheerleaders to local high school students.

Drill Team Prep with Angie Juarez, Fridays 7-8 p.m
As a former MLS Houston Dynamo Cheerleader, Angie brings that same level of energy, enthusiasm, and fun to her classes! She was named the Dynamos “Hip Hop Dancer of the Year” in 2012 and 2013. She also served as the dance coach for the University of Houston Downtown from 2015-16. Angie specializes in cheer, jazz, and hip hop and has danced with various local hip hop teams, including the Galing Crew which won 1st place at the World of Dance competition in 2017. She teaches and choreographs internationally as well as at her base studio, Soundbox Studio in Houston.
