Why Choose Dance Du Coeur?

WHY CHOOSE DANCE DU COEUR?
Those that have never experienced our classes, instructors, and studio first-hand often ask “Why should I choose Dance Du Coeur for my dancer?”. Not all studios are created equal. We’ve raised the bar in many different ways and customers notice. Here are just a dozen reasons why you’ll love and appreciate your experience at Dance Du Coeur Sugar Land Dance Studio.

1. TOP TEACHERS AND MOTIVATORS
Many of our teachers have been or still are working dance professionals and almost all have college dance degrees as well. Be assured that you are getting instruction from qualified teachers who are dedicated to dance and love teaching kids of all ages. We also encourage growth through positive reinforcement. Our teachers exercise discipline in the studio while bringing a creative and progressive approach to dance instruction. Our teachers are not only selected for their backgrounds and expertise, but for their personal integrity. They are not just teachers, they are mentors and we recognize that. Their choices of music and choreography are tasteful and appropriate and their teaching styles are positive, respectful, and encouraging. Our teachers are also approachable and open minded.

2. STATE OF THE ART DANCE FACILITY
Our studios all have sprung wood floors with a vinyl covering made specifically for dance. This helps protect joints and muscles as the supportive surface prevents micro-injuries such as shin splints. Mirrors are extra tall, from crown to floor, for maximum visibility. Curtains can be drawn to allow students to rehearse dances without a visual aid, replicating a performance environment. This promotes choreography memorization. All studios are equipped with Nest cameras which record at all times, allowing teachers to review events from the class and student progress.

3. VARIETY OF CLASSES OFFERED YEAR ROUND
With three state of the art, sprung wood dance floors, we offer a variety of classes and levels. Choose from dance classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Acro Dance. For our younger students, we offer Creative Movement Classes in Pre Ballet, Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz, and Intro to Hip Hop for ages 5-6. Our “Baby Ballet” is for children 18 – 36 months.

4. DANCE CLASSES FOR ALL AGES
Dance Du Coeur Sugar Land Dance Studio is one of the few studios that offers classes to dancers of ALL ages! Our students start as young as 18 months old in Baby Ballet. For teens or older kids who want to dance but are new to the art, we offer beginner classes just for you! And for adults who used to dance and want to get back into it, we have Adult Ballet.

5. QUALITY INSTRUCTION
Our instructors teach their classes according to a set curriculum with a goal for each child to achieve specific skills by the end of the year. One reason we have just one recital a year is so that students get ample time learning the necessary skills to move to the next level. If they aren’t ready to move to the next level at the end of the year, your child’s teacher will be able to explain why and what is needed to get there. While some studios assess students subjectively, we evaluate our students based on how well they met a set of criteria by the end of the year and how quickly/easily they progressed. Teachers fill out evaluations for each student in level 1 classes and above at the end of the Spring season which include recommendations for their next class level. Also, we limit the size of each class so that each student receives adequate, individual attention. Many of these classes have an assigned assistant in the studio to help the teacher.

6. LICENSED STUDIO FOR LEAP N LEARN CURRICULUM
Dance Du Coeur is the only studio in Fort Bend County with a current license in Leap N Learn curriculum. All of our Creative Movement teachers (classes for age 6 and under) are trained and licensed in this teaching methodology. Leap N Learn is an early childhood dance program specifically designed for children between the ages of 18 months to six years. Across all these early childhood ages, Leap ‘N Learn helps build strong foundations in dance and the curriculum embeds physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills into each and every class. Leap ‘N Learn also helps children learn the basics of classroom behavior and manners, which include learning how to take turns, following another dancer or leading the way, waiting patiently, working together with others, and having a positive attitude. Concepts such as musical awareness, relationships to the working space and stage, expressing emotion through movement, and pantomime are explored throughout the year. Dance instruction aims to teach students the basics of ballet, including the vocabulary, along with important elements such as opposites, directions, pathways and locomotor/nonlocomotor movements.

7. CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, AND WARM ENVIRONMENT
Dance Du Coeur is just under 7,000 square feet of studio space. With three large dance studios, high ceilings and modern amenities, we designed it for your comfort and to inspire dance. Our staff and teachers are friendly, warm, and are always happy to see you! You will feel at home here. With wide hallways and plenty of seating area, you can observe class through our viewing windows or just work on your laptop (we have free wi fi!) without feeling cramped. Our professional cleaning service keeps the bathrooms and halls nice and clean. For company members or students who spend extended hours at the studio, we have a refrigerator to store food and a microwave to heat up meals. We even have a healthy vending machine. For those who need a meal while waiting, Pepperoni’s is downstairs and they serve pizza, salads, and sandwiches.

8. TRIAL CLASSES AND MAKE-UPS
Aren’t sure about what style or level to take? Try any class for $25! Missed class because you were sick or not able to make it to the studio? You can make it up any time by coming to another class at your same level.

9. END OF THE YEAR RECITAL
Our yearly recital is a class act you will be proud to invite your family and friends to attend! Held at the Stafford Center, the recital is divided into three shows to keep it at a reasonable length.
