Competition team auditions coming up in June
Auditions for Dance Du Coeur’s Sugar Land competitive dance teams are scheduled for Sunday, June 2, 2024, and Sunday, June 23, at the studio.
In lieu of attending group auditions, dancers may submit a video of a solo performance or arrange for a private audition for $25. The cost for the group auditions is $10 per dancer.
Times are:
12:00-1:00 p.m. for ages 5-6
1:15-2:15 p.m. for ages 7-8
2:30-3:30 p.m. for ages 9-12
3:45-4:45 for ages 13 and up
Results will be emailed within three weeks of the audition.
For the audition, dancers should wear a leotard or dance top with lycra shorts or leggings. Hair should be in a ponytail or bun.
Boys should wear black pants or shorts and a T-shirt. Jazz shoes or bare feet are fine.
Dancers will be taught a contemporary and jazz combination to do across the floor. Both the parent and dancer must also fill out a questionnaire.
One Beat members are required to be available for choreography the entire month of August and September (all weekends, including Labor Day) and possibly other dates as announced in October. The Director will consider special situations. New One Beat members also have summer dance requirements, which include ballet, tap, technique classes, and more.
Company members have weekly class and rehearsal requirements during the season, which are strictly enforced. For juniors, teens, and seniors, we have two tracks. The competition teams attend local competitions that usually require one or two days of attendance on those weekends. Convention teams attend conventions that include a competition portion. Convention competitions are Friday through Sunday and require attendance on all three days. The convention teams also sometimes travel to other cities in Texas and Louisiana.
If the dancer is accepted by the company, they must pay a $750 non-refundable deposit within two weeks. The deposit is $250 for ages 5-6.
All teams will be attending Nationals in the summer of 2025.
The Monthly tuition for Company members is:
Minis (age 5-6) – $220
Petites (ages 7-9) – $325 (more if selected for a small group)
Junior Competition (10-12)- $375
Junior Convention (10-12)- $400
Teen/Senior Competition (13 +) – $275 (fewer requirements to allow for drill team participation). Teen/Senior Convention (13+) – $375
